What happened when astronauts shaved in space?
When astronauts first shaved in space, their weightless whiskers floated up to the ceiling. A special razor had to be developed which drew the whiskers in like a vacuum cleaner, otherwise there would have been whiskers growing off the roof of the rocket!
Astronauts have to use liquid salt and pepper too. Can you imagine what would happen if they tried to shake salt onto their food? All their food is packaged carefully to stop it flying away.
How would you like to go for weeks on end without a shower? Some of you would probably go “whoopee!” but astronauts really miss their shower. Astronauts can’t shower – the water would just float up to the ceiling. They have to sponge themselves with wet towels to keep clean. They really look forward to having a shower when they come back to Earth again!
